Service Description

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT? Pain relieving oils are massaged into back, neck, and shoulders. We start with moving cupping, where the cups glide over tense muscles helping to reduce tension and soreness. Gua Sha may be recommended for certain cases and we will focus on the affected area with this modality. The cups are then left in position over affected muscles and left on for 5-10 minutes, finished off with a soothing warm towel. WHAT IS CUPPING? Cupping is another modality used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Cups are placed on the body by creating a suction. They can either be left in place or moved along the muscles and meridians. It is almost like the inverse of massage, instead of pushing we are pulling the muscles. Don't be scared of the marks sometimes left behind, cupping feels amazing! WHAT IS GUA SHA? Gua Sha is a scraping therapy used for muscle pain, tension, cold/flu, and anti-aging. Gua sha creates micro-trauma in the tissue encouraging blood flow and healing to occur. It can break up scar tissue, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CUPPING & GUA SHA? Cupping and Gua Sha are excellent at reinforcing your acupuncture treatment by improving circulation, moving lymph, detoxing the body, pulling out stagnation, and relaxing tight muscles.
